About

I'm an HPC Systems Analyst in Research & IT at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), helping run the research computing platform behind SickKids and the HPC4Health network, from private cloud and HPC clusters to research storage. At Ontario Tech University I've been a research assistant in the Advanced Networking Technology and Security (ANTS) Lab, publishing on drone traffic management and EV charging security, and a teaching assistant for System and Network Administration. I'm now completing a Master's in Computer Science, researching GPS spoofing detection for drones.

Experience

HPC Systems Analyst

The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) · Research & IT

  • Run the private cloud that hosts SickKids' research computing services
  • Keep the user-facing research services running: HPC batch computing, research storage and research data management
  • Support HPC environments for research partnerships across SickKids and the HPC4Health network
  • Help computational researchers run large, resource-intensive workloads efficiently
  • Automate administration with Python on Linux
Research Assistant

Ontario Tech University · Advanced Networking Technology and Security (ANTS) Lab

  • Built Go and Python research software with a research team and industry partners, from scoping and scheduling through testing and deployment
  • Developed a blockchain-based drone traffic management system on Hyperledger Fabric with an NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award, published in Applied Sciences
  • Contributed to research on EV charging security and post-quantum security for small modular reactors (see Publications)
Teaching Assistant

Ontario Tech University · System and Network Administration

  • Ran the course's OpenStack environment for labs, projects and exams: provisioning, troubleshooting and clean-up
  • Automated instance creation and teardown for scheduled lab sessions with Bash
  • Built the Windows Server images used in labs, and helped students with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, IIS and WSUS

Research

GPS Spoofing Detection for UAVs

Ontario Tech University · Python, TensorFlow Lite, PX4, Gazebo

  • Real-time GPS anomaly detection with an autoencoder trained on GPS and IMU telemetry
  • A lightweight online-learning layer adapts to each drone in flight; federated learning shares model weights, not flight data, across the fleet
  • Tested in multi-drone PX4 SITL simulation with simulated spoofing attacks

Publications

Post-Quantum Security for Small Modular Reactor Operational Technology: Threat Analysis and Remediation

Y. Fayyaz, A. Keith, K. El-Khatib, G. Harvel · Presented at G4SR-6, the 6th International Conference on Generation IV and Small Reactors, Niagara Falls, October 2026

How future quantum computers threaten the cryptography that protects operational technology in small modular reactors, and a plan for moving those systems to post-quantum security.

A Blockchain-Powered Traffic Management System for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

A. Keith, T. Sangarapillai, A. Almehmadi, K. El-Khatib · Applied Sciences (MDPI) 13(19), 10950, 2023

A decentralized traffic management system for drones, built on a permissioned Hyperledger Fabric blockchain so only authenticated drones can join. It plans and deconflicts flight paths; in simulation it handled 1,000 drones in a square kilometre and returned paths in 60–2,000 ms with up to 100 deconflictions. Built with Go chaincode, plus Python tools to visualize the drones' paths.

Securing the Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure: An In-Depth Analysis of Vulnerabilities and Countermeasures

G. Vailoces, A. Keith, A. Almehmadi, K. El-Khatib · DIVANet '23 (ACM), 31–38, 2023

A security analysis of EV charging equipment, focusing on weak authentication and end-to-end communications. It works through attack scenarios with consequences from physical damage to major service disruptions, and proposes countermeasures.

Projects

Personal

MacroDash

A macOS menu bar app that turns a tiny 8" S-Video display into a Macintosh System 1–style dashboard: clock, weather and Environment Canada alerts, headlines, calendar, reminders, device batteries and Claude Code session status, with self-playing easter-egg games. It also keeps the little screen out of everyday use by fencing off the cursor and moving windows away from it.

Legendary Workshop

An iOS companion app for Guild Wars 2 that tracks legendary crafting, recipe trees, daily and weekly tasks and achievements, using the GW2 API and Wiki entirely on the phone, with no server.

img-squared

A command-line tool that arranges 2–5 images into side-by-side, grid and stacked layouts.

Brobot

A Discord bot with per-channel GPT conversations and configurable personas.

University

WikiBot

DevOps and Infrastructure Automation · 2024

A Discord bot for searching Wikipedia, summarizing articles and running trivia games, built in Agile sprints with a CI/CD pipeline that automated integration and deployment.

DNS Spoofing Case Study

Penetration Testing · 2023

Carried out a DNS spoofing attack in a lab and explained in a video report how it works and what it can target.

Game Recording Kit for a Soccer Club

Oshawa Kicks Soccer Club · 2023

Designed and delivered a self-service kit for recording games: a GoPro on a high-extension tripod with a remote pan-and-tilt head, plus guides for setting it up and using it safely.

Enterprise Network Design

Advanced Networking · 2022

Designed and built an enterprise network on real Cisco switches and routers: spanning tree, first-hop redundancy, MPLS, DMVPN and EIGRP routing.
